The questions everyone asks

Will I get hurt?

The injury rate in jiu jitsu is extremely low, especially compared to basketball, track, football or other traditional sports. We run a large number of beginner-focused classes for exactly this reason.

Is this going to be really hard on my body? Is it violent?

Any physical activity puts stress on the body. But 95% of our students start with absolutely no experience and are generally out of shape when they walk in. We are committed to progressing you properly.

Do I have to be athletic, flexible, or in shape first?

No. Conditioning for jiu jitsu has to happen through jiu jitsu — you cannot replicate working with a partner on a treadmill. Start where you are.

What should I bring to my first class?

Flip flops, and a towel if you plan to shower after. We will cover the rest.

Is sparring (rolling) required?

No. You can begin live training whenever you feel comfortable, and not a day before.

How young do you take kids?

From age 3. Classes are grouped by age and experience so every child is matched appropriately.
